答案是E。the last day that...为什么用that？

D的in order to 用的不好. E中的the day that ... 没有错.

觉得还是E吧。。Last 原来修饰Day，在D里Last修饰scheduled了，不对啊

我也觉得E好，关于they/their指代问题，我觉得D和E都有同样的问题是否指代severance packages呢？

对于指代规则我一直不太明白，请NN指教啊。

I choose D, because

"their last scheduled day" is more precise than "the last day that they are scheduled", after all, GMAT prefers active to passive language.

"in order to" is stronger than "to" when defines a purpose.

"their" usually describes people or alive things, the only people mentioned in the sentence are the workers, so it's clear that "their" are the workers.
