Tiger beetles are such fast runners that they can capture virtually any nonflying insect. However, when running toward an insect, the beetles intermittently stop, and then, a moment later, resume their attack. Perhaps they cannot maintain their pace and must pause for a moment's rest; but an alternative hypothesis is that while running tiger beetles are unable to process the resulting rapidly changing visual information, and so quickly go blind and stop.

Which of the following, if discovered in experiments using artificially moved prey insects, would support one of the two hypotheses and undermine the other?

答案是C，我选了B。我知道B错，是因为它只讲了跟视力有关，支持了一项，却没有谈到体力，所以没有削弱另一个原因，可是C为什么对？我觉得C也是只说速度更快，证明跟体力有关，但是也没削弱关于视力原因啊？急问！！！

对于这两个选项我的理解是：B中的“equally frequently"只是说明了频率,不代表每次休息的时间都是相同的，这对于题中的“Perhaps they cannot maintain their pace and must pause for a moment's rest”加强的不是很确定。而C中的”fixed time interval between pause"既说明了频率也说明了休息的时间有规律。

我的理解是削弱甲壳虫瞎了是这样的：题干中怀疑甲壳虫是盲的是因为那个昆虫不动，甲虫自己动，这样快速变化的信息处理不过来，所以要停下来，这样昆虫和甲壳虫都是静止的，甲壳虫就能看清了； C里面让昆虫由静止到动，这样就算甲壳虫静止的时候，昆虫也在动，如果甲壳虫是盲的应该就看不到昆虫了，但是甲壳虫看得到！还能追捕！=>甲壳虫停下来不是因为瞎了。

加强甲壳虫休息就是：因为昆虫从静止到飞起来肯定是加速的，甲壳虫也加速，说明需要休息。。。。这个我觉得不如上面甲壳虫不瞎有说服力。。。

对于需要休息我觉得是题中说Perhaps they cannot maintain their pace and must pause for a moment's rest 也就是如果不休息那么速度就会降下来。C中说甲壳虫会在下一次休息之后加速，也就是说它无法不休息就加速，所以停顿间隙是为了休息。。。。我也很晕不知道对不对

总结一下C 就是：
对于致盲需要停顿：题干中怀疑甲壳虫致盲的原因是：甲壳虫不能处理快速变化的信息，所以会致盲而休息。但C中说当昆虫由静止而开始移动（这算是快速变化的信息）时，甲壳虫也会随之加速追击，说明甲壳虫可以处理快速变化的视觉信息。
对于需要休息而停顿：我觉得是题中说Perhaps they cannot maintain their pace and must pause for a moment's rest 也就是如果不休息那么速度就会降下来。C中说甲壳虫会在下一次休息之后加速，也就是说它无法不休息就加速，所以停顿间隙是为了休息。。。
所以C反对了致盲，支持了需要休息。
