64.   The technical term "pagination" is a process that leaves editors, instead of printers, assemble the page images that become the metal or plastic plates used in printing.

(A)     is a process that leaves editors, instead of printers, assemble

(B)     refers to a process that allows editors, rather than printers, to assemble

(C)     is a process leaving the editors, rather than printers, to assemble

(D)    refers to a process which allows editors, but not to printers, the assembly of

(E)     has reference to the process leaving to editors, instead of the printer, assembling

B

主语term,选refer,排除A C

(D) refers to a process which allows editors, but not to printers, the assembly of

OG說應該要用THAT 而不是WHICH,是因為這是restrictive clause嗎?

(C)               Is should be refers to; leaving is incorrect; the should be omitted before editors

D          But not to should be rather than or instead of, the assembly of should be to assemble; which should be that

D          But not to should be rather than or instead of, the assembly of should be to assemble; which should be that

D          But not to should be rather than or instead of, the assembly of should be to assemble; which should be that

请问(1)C选项为什么THE要省略,是因为printers吗,如果前面后面都有THE可不可以呢,即将C改为is a process leaving the editors, rather than the printers, to assemble???

(2)D选项中为什么which要改成 that?? 即改成refers to a

assemble the page images that become the metal or plastic plates used in printing.

解释里which should be that,也不太懂。

While let and leave can be used interchangeably in some contexts ,leave is not an acceptable substitute for let when let means to permit or allow.

(D) refers to a process which allows editors, but not to printers, the assembly of

First, allow editors, but not (to) printers. to should be omitted.

Second, allow sb. to do sth. You can't say "allows editors the assembly of"

LONGMAN DICTIONARY

Let:
▶ALLOW◀

[transitive not in passive] to allow someone to do something
eg : I can't see also permit I can't come out tonight - my dad won't let me.

let alone
used after a negative statement to say that the next thing you mention is even more unlikely

eg: The baby can't even sit up yet, let alone walk!

leave somebody/something alone
a) to stop annoying or upsetting someone

Oh, just leave me alone, will you? Leave the boy alone, he can make up his own mind.

b) to go away from someone so that they are on their own

Six-year-old Gemma had been left alone in the house.

c) to stop touching something

Leave that alone. You'll break it.

E.G. Don't let the child play with fire.

Don't leave the child playing with fire.

Here ,the clause following "which" defines" pagination" ,so "that" must be used in place of which.
