just got the phone call of admissions officer: congratulations, you are admitted by Yale SOM.

some infos about application: 27 years, 3.8 GPA first class uni in Beijing, Master in economics (part time), 4.5 years central government, 2,5 years (until fall)fortune 500, currently based in Europe, 730GMAT, fluent in 4 languages.

applied to HBS (interviewed, waiting), Yale (admission), Wharton (dinged after interview) and Oxford (admission)

HBS is clearly my priority. However, considering Yale's strong brand, even I will be "negatively" surprised on 18.Jan. I will still be happy about this outcome.

benefited a lot from this truely open chatroom. If I could give back some of my experience, both positive and negative, to applicants, I would like to do that.

Essay Two写了自己的一项工作成就；Optional Essay展示了一下Teamwork spirit。这个都无所谓的，只要你自己觉得写的顺手就行。凭心而论，我到现在都觉得Yale录取人挺神的，不知道他们究竟是如何考虑的，呵呵。

我也被wharton据了，而且连interview都没给，呵呵。不过我也知道有人拿到wharton和columbia的interview，结果被yale直接不给interview就据了。其实这就是缘分，一切都是命中注定的。

Yale会监听申请者的MSN，如果申请者每天坚持说一次admitted by yale，他们就会义无反顾的给出offer

some advice for application: every school has its own criteria. you should find out school where you believe you have the right fit. I did a mistake by Wharton. At the beginning I thought with my background I will have no difficulty in getting admission from every school. However, I guess Wharton knows at the beginning that I would never go there if I get admission from hbs or yale, since my backgrounds fit better to those schools (correct), and they know 99% of their applicants also apply to hbs or stanford.

you know top schools would consider their yield rate. If below 70%, their rating would decline, definitly not in interest of the schools. I failed to convince wharton that it is my first choice.

in my second essay to yale, i clarified why I decided to switch from public to private sector. I think this essay give you enough room to show your personality.

as to the scholarship: I will be sponsored by my company.

Just different background, different choice. Yale is known by anybody here in the U.S and in the world.

Well, as a personal choice or preference. Yale could be the perfect choice for LZ. I have no doubt about that. But generally, Yale BSchool definitely is way behind Wharton and HSB alike, does not stand up to Yale's name at all. I do not believe that Wharton would reject some one just because they think he will not come even admitted. The other way maybe true - LZ does not believe that so failed to convince Wharton that there is a fit. (If yourself do not believe, how could you expect others to believe?). My two cents.

I once asked a Wharton alumni, "In your opinion, what Wharton is looking for from the cadidates?" the answer wa "What Wharton looks for are the same as other schools".

I also applied for Duke, and going to interview in Feb. But frankly speaking, more anxious about HBS and Yale.
