这个that不是指代music，而是Bill Monroe的什么东西，但是句子里又没有说，即没有指代对象。that of his own，一定要在Bill Monroe的东东里找到指代对象。

the book of my own是可以的表达吧. =my own book. 还是不懂E的that为什么没有指代.

如果套用以前nn的解释:

Gmat不接受双重所有格，A of B‘s永远不可能出现在正确选项里关于A FRIEND OF MINE，这是个很口语化的表达，根据Gmat的简洁原则，完全可以改成my friend而丝毫不影响原意，所以ets认为它是个相当redundant的表达

这里the book of my own可以表达为my own book

that(music) of his own应该为his own music,所以我认为that应该是redundant的，为什么OG说是unclear and confusing呢?

搜到了比较好的解释:

*感觉上是因为different from his own已经表达全了对比，所以这个that的插入才显得不知道指代什么。

*从句中的that除了就近指代music没有其它的东西了，但是: music(that) of Bill或者 music(that) of his own music都不对；

somebody 'music is better，并且与whose music平行。
