Q29:

Most of Portugal’s 250,000 university students boycotted classes in a one-day strike to protest a law that requires them to contribute $330 a year toward the cost of higher education, previously paying $7 per year.

  • year toward the cost of higher education, previously paying $7 per year

  • year toward the cost of higher education, for which was previously paid $7 per year

  • year, compared to the previously $7 per year, toward the cost of higher education

  • year toward the cost of higher education, instead of the $7 per year required previously

  • year as opposed to the $7 per year required previously for the cost of higher education

我觉得B没错,which就是指代education,也就是education was previously paid for $7的意思

    这题我选c,compared to ....

for which was previously paid $7 per year這樣的結構可以把for放到後面。

was previously paid $7 per year for higher education。which指代education。

C把compared to the previously $7 per year加在中間﹐是就近和$330 per year比較。

    compare with才是拿....

    open to discuss

prefer C, compared to...

    多指教阿~~

    另外D, E中多了個"the"$7, the是特指,這裡每年要繳的慣性$7, 應該是不需要用"the"吧?

    指教~~

    支持选D

    Econtribute for不符合contribute的习惯用法;

    contribute / Longman:

    1. intransitive

    1) contribute to something

City employees cannot contribute to political campaigns.

    2) contribute X to/toward Y

The volunteers contribute their own time to the project.

    2. transitive

    contribute something

    A,伴随结果表达过去事件错;

    B1) 没有动作的agent2) X pay $7 for the education的被动形式应该是$7 was paid for the educaton,因此Bfor which $7 was paid更好;

    pay ./ Longman

    pay for sth

    pay somebody for something

    pay money for something

    Cthe previously $7副词修饰名词错;

    个人愚见选D,从错误级别看,E/C不符合习惯用法,B,被动语态的agent错误,应该首先排除;Achronicle errorDinstead of比较对象不清晰更严重;并且D可以根据contribute money…instead of money的形式,以及逻辑判断是money的比较。

    看来大家OG看的都不好.这道题主要考的是突出比较.拿现在的和以前的比.我记得OG里,具体哪道题忘了,有一道题和这道非常类似,解释里就有INSTEAD OF,ALTHOUGH等词用于比较意义的考点.AB中无比较词汇,肯定不对.C中短语用错.E中contribute后少一TO OR TOWARD 的成分.
    作者: FlowerJay    时间: 2007-1-13 15:19

    偶来分析一下 B的for which。

    这种用法一般可以还原成:

which XXXX ....... for 这里面, which指代的成分是和for连用的。根据题意,应该是cost for education,也就是说which指代education. 类似的用法常见的有 the place in which we are staying is Beijing。 由此可见,比较正确地用法应该是 education for which the students need to bear a cost of 7$ (for).

但是有一个特例, there are many students, one of whom is my brother. 这样的句子其实就是 there are many students, and one of them is my brother.

    $7 per year

    was previously paid for education

    4. if using conversed order, not necessary ($7 per year was paid for the cost); otherwise no subject in relative clause.

    C:

    1. previously should be previous since modify noun phrase

    2. compare to: A and B are not same thing; compare with: A and B are same thing, so should be compare with

    So D

requires them to contribute $330 a year( toward the cost of higher education, )instead of the $7 per year required previously
