A. there are less than one-quarter that many

B. there are fewer than one-quarter as many

C. there are fewer than one-quarter of that amount

D. the number is less than one-quarter the amount : the number is ….one –quarter of the amount. (C)

这个题原来讨论的时候。carolhide MM 提到 The number refer to 4000 has logical problem,我不太理解。这里的逻辑错误是什么。还请carolhide MM在解释一下

呵呵，刚看见。

题目的逻辑意思是现在的数字fewer than one-quarter of that amount

如果按照D的说法the number指代4，000

那句子就变成4，000is less than one-quarter the amount （the amount又不知道指代什么）

请指正！！
