Isn't the answere "D"?

"Was" after "and" should parallel with "were" after "contemporaries".

疑问，D中前面的同位语，没加a，好像不太习惯

而且A问什么错呢？像as a ……加一个倒装句，而且who的定语从句与修饰词C SS挨着很近呀！这个结构很好呀！请NN们指点，谢谢！！

请NN们指点~~可否解释一下B选项中的was having been done这种时态都用在什么地方嘛?好像OG和prep上没有这种时态。。另外，and连接并列句如果前后两句都是be动词作谓语且一样，那么第二个谓语什么时候可以省略呢？像D选项就没有省略这里的rule什么呢？求解求解~~
