For some reason the new consultant treats his clients like idiots, talking to them like they were mentally deficient and incapable of understanding more than the simplest ideas.
(A) like idiots, talking to them like they
(B) as if they were idiots, talking to them like they
(C) like idiots, talking to them as if they
(D) as idiots, talking to them like they
(E) like idiots who

正确答案C中的like能换成as吗？

like和as的区别主要在于，前者后面接名词或名词词组，后者接句子，要有谓语动词

小按你说的like和as的区别我同意。但是as和like都可以做介词。在W-M中，as做介词就=like. 比如：somebody signed an agreement as an adolescent. 所以我认为在C中，如果比较两者需要介词连接，like是可以替换成为as的。但是如果比较两者需要2个句子表达，则只能用as连接。

但是在W-M中，as介词的意思就是like.

不过我同意你的看法！当我们说he works as an editor, 他的确是一个编辑。但当我们说he treats his client as an idiot,除非这个client是一个idiot, 否则就应该改成like。

为什么是D而不是A呢？

A在语法上没有问题，但是在逻辑上会造成ETS所说的dangling modofication, 也就是不知道他就近时修饰前一句话，还是后一句。

另外即使修饰前面的，句子意思也有问题，因为主句是否定句，你代入试试，说不通。

这道题C的like是不是有问题，应该是treat sb. as sb.

一针见血啊！！！前面是一般现在时，后面突然用了were，说明一定是一个虚拟语气。我觉得as与like没有什么区别，在表示“像……”时。

虽然本题的答案确实很容易可以通过后半部分as if they were来得到，但总觉得treat sth as sth比treat sth like sth来得顺。我在字典里也没找到treat sth like的用法，只有treat sth as的例句。

正确答案C中的like能换成as吗？

同意2楼小安的观点。

(A) like idiots, talking to them like they （这里的Like错误，因为表示连词“像。。”时like 后面只能跟短语，而as / as if 可以跟句子。）

(B) as if they were（冗余） idiots, talking to them like（错，同A） they

(D) as （作为连词“像”时，接短语错）idiots, talking to them like（错，同A） they

(E) like idiots who（逻辑上错，were mentally deficient and incapable 应该修饰clients ）

所以总结起来：

1。as 和 like用法的区别；

2。主语逻辑一致性

还是同意关键clue是were,as是可以当介词的，但Like肯定不可以当连词，所以只有选C，但是觉得前半句不如用as好。

treat...as...是固定习语呀

不明白这个，were mentally deficient and incapable不是用来形容idiots更符合逻辑么？
