B) 因果关系错位. the closer of the rain makes the city air more acidic

C) that ONE coming closer to town, coming closer 无主语. According to the structure, "coming closer" modifies that

D) 因果关系倒置

只有AD结构正确，但D因果倒置，排除D，选A

A 能这么表达吗？A的下半句似乎表达有问题，应该说the closer one came to the town, the more acidic the city air would become。

increasingly 和more有意思重复之嫌，没有必要用两个吧。我选B。前人做的答案是C

the acidity of the city air is already increasing

but because of the rain coming closer --- > more air increasing acidity
