这里省了主语

根据精华的讲解：比较的两主语是同一个才能省第2个啊？

但是感觉前边的people和后边的people不是同一个阿？前者是参加job training and general education 的后者是enrolled in colleges and universities的为什么省了主语people呢？

就是因为前后的people指的是不同的人群，所以把比较后的主语省略了。

如果不省略,前后的 people 指同一组人，就混淆了。

people, about as many as people are enrolled in the nation's four-year colleges and universities.

精华帖不是说只有是同一类人才能省么？这里显然不是同一类人啊！那也应该用those吧？

能不能这样看：

equivalent--- something is equivalent to something. However, here it is "8 M people",

ABC are gone.

D, as many as, --- "8 M people" and "the enrollment" can not be put into one comparison.

当比较的主语是普遍概念且无任何修饰成分的时候,第2个比较的主语省略.本题比较的是:people(about...是eight million people的同位语,所以OG说beople is understood as the subject of are enrolled). 用法同OG187:比较对象是Americans.

当比较对象有修饰成分时,第2个比较对象中心词用that/those替代再加上不同的修饰成分(如those who...等)
