答案是D。

为什么A不可以， flames spreading 当名词，相当于making ignition much easier and （making）flames spreading more quickly. 前面省略了making.

spreading 改成spread就对了，别忘了后面的副词quickly.你就明白spreading不能作名词了吧！

我想如果是make后面应该接to do sth.所以答案D就用cause代替make,然后接一个不定式。

But don't forget the ||. 'making.... and causing.... ' You need causing to parallel making.
