ETS不喜欢WITH结构我上来就把这个选项排除了

gmat的原则是相对正确，这里其他选项问题更大，A中的which指代一句句子，不对！B中and it多余，不对，D中doubling和bringing分开，不对。E中改变句子结构和中心意思，不对。

ETS不喜欢用WITH是因为，WITH容易造成歧义，而放在句首的WITH是没有歧义的。所以不能因为有WITH所以就马上排除这个答案。

我选择c,我觉得大家过分关注ETS的偏好，实际上ETS没有什么偏好，只是在情况下用合适，比如说新东方的有个老师讲的being,说看见他就错，实际上远不是这样。。。。等等，有好多先例，我觉得关键是体会句子的感觉比如说there be,不好的原因是因为它缺少人性化，所以不生动，但是在某种情况下只有用它。。

我觉得回答问题的时候说ets不喜欢不具备说服力，只能说又比这个更好的表达方式。。。。

z520m的分析很到位，每个大案都说得很清楚，我再补充点，B的结构缺乏句子，全部是短语拚起来的。。d还有个问题是插入语的方式用得太多。。特别是 for about four cents an acre，它要不放在句首，要不放在purchase 的后面做补语，放在中间不太和逻辑，特别是在已经有一个插入语的情况下。。e中间的it指代错误。。

题目中有 and 出现，说明很可能是平行结构，要求and前后平行，后面未划线部分，有 its，说明and 前面也应该是有its来对称、并且更简洁；凭此可以排除A、B、D、E；

C还原后：

心得：

1，不要看见with 就排除，可能也是正确答案；

2，徘徊在2个选项之间时，再审视未划线部分的句子，很可能提供决定性信息；

E 为什么错？
1，
代词指代错误，it 错误指代the Louisiana Purchase of 1803，从逻辑含义来说应该指代the Louisiana；

2，从逻辑含义上看，应该是acquired 828,000 square miles 这件事，带来2个后果，即后面size 和western border 的变化，后面用doubling。。。and bringing… 来补充说明这件事的后果。

C这边难到不会有一种错误类比的可能性是

more than doubling its size and (more than) bringing ......

是我想太多吗？

我就是看到这样子所以觉得C不好

虽然看了讲解之后有觉得其他的错的更离谱....

"more than doubling..." and "bringing...." 是可以并列的？
