看了所有以前的帖子，实在是不能接受大家接受A的理由。

103.American productivity is declining in relation to Europe's; the energy expended per unit of production in the United States is as much as twice that expended in West Germany.

(A) as much as twice that expended in West Germany

(B) as much as twice that of West Germany's expenditure

(D) up to two times what West Germans expended

(E) up to double the West German expenditure

以前的帖子都认为 two times有歧义。但two times只有在修饰实意动词的时候才会被误解成“次数”而不是“倍数”。

LZM第161页-七，倍数增减的表达

3. 倍数+名词：The earth is 49 times the size of the moon.

大全注释中说up to 是错的。但OG中只说了from...up to...是错的，没说up to错呀？

as much as twice的搭配太奇怪了。建议把答案改成D. 大家的意见呢？？

as much as twice的搭配挺好的呀!我不觉得有什么奇怪呀.而且A选项很对称。

as much as : adv, 差不多。

注意句子的对称。

刘振民语法书中的第九章明确指出,

倍数+ AS +形容词/副词 +AS (或把倍数放在最后一个AS 之后)

所以 AS MUCH AS TWICE 是正确的.

此题主要考对称关系.答案是A

up to是增加，two times也是增加，意思重了。

就像decrease是减少，down也是减少，意思也冗余了。

google 都是twice as much...

这个用法好像很少见，平常都是as + adj + as + noun(He saved as little as $10 a month), as + adj + as + clause (Being a mother isn't as bad as I thought at first).

既然楼上有人说刘振民语法里提到了twice可以移到第二个as后面，那我们就先记住了再说。

另外up to two times what West Germans expended ，这里的up to有最多的意思。最多是德国花费的2倍。这个比较也没错阿。

为什么大家不考虑一下E项. 如果A项的as much as twice , 和D项的two times不对. 我觉的E项虽然也有瑕呲,但是也比他们的好? 有没有NN指点!

看上去比較平衡

two times好像在OG中都是錯的...再加上usage書上說想用two times, 就改用twice

(D) up to two times what West Germans expended

two times表示比较含义，两边形式概念要尽量对称的，但是选D的话都不对称。

所以，还是我还是支持选A

剛剛做到OG82/84年edition上有這一題B6#13...OG的answer是A.
可是沒有explanation...
