到底是forbid to do 还是forbid from doing?

AFAIK, forbid sth, forbid sb. from doing sth. forbid sb. to do sth

e.g.
laws forbid alteration of the coast.
He was forbidden from smoking.
He was forbidden from leaving China.
The law forbids an employer to reject a job applicant based on the results of a lie detector test

forbid sth/doing sth/to do, 不能跟that

prohibit/prevent/keep sb from doing sth
