Heirloom tomatoes, grown from seeds saved from the previous year, only look less appetizing than their round and red supermarket cousins, often green and striped, or have plenty of bumps and bruises, but are more flavorful.

A.     cousins, often green and striped, or have plenty of bumps and bruises, but are

B.     cousins, often green and striped, or with plenty of bumps and bruises, although

C.     cousins, often green and striped, or they have plenty of bumps and bruises, although they are

D.     cousins; they are often green and striped, or with plenty of bumps and bruises, although

E     cousins; they are often green and striped, or have plenty of bumps and bruises, but they are

A,often green and striped就变成修饰cousins了,本来是应该是修饰heirloom tomatoes的。

D.     cousins; they are often green and striped, or with plenty of bumps and bruises, although

E     cousins; they are often green and striped, or have plenty of bumps and bruises, but they are

i also choose A ,because "THEIR " in the first part of the sentence is refer to "Heirloom tomatoes" , but becasse "THEY " in E refers to "supermarket cousins"  . therefore cause confuse

E - they are often green and striped, or have plenty of bumps and bruises, but they are

the 2 "they" both refer to "Heirloom tomatoes" without any ambiguity and confusion.

S  ....look.....,or have...,but are...

Why not D?

d的问题是they are often green and striped, or with plenty of bumps and bruises中系表结构与with介词短语用or来并列

h tomatoes为主语的句子里谓语是look, look是个系动词,b后面的 often green and striped, or with plenty of bumps and bruises都省略了主语和系动词。

而a里,but后要省没有省完,多了个are,e里they指代还是不明确,是指代tomatoes还是指代cousins呢。

A is not correct of course

the simplified structure of this long freaking sentence is that Heirloom tomatoes look...... so the following stuff is used to describe the tomatoes, so not supposed to pop up a original verb..so here in A option.."or have" is obviously wrong.. better to be or having..   "but are" is wrong again...better to be "but being"

i checked all the options, and found out only E is correct in both grammatical and according-with-origin way

different opinion

they could both refer to "tomatoes" and "cousins" I think

although there is "their" at the first clause, but in E, they still have some ambiguous meaning

HT, grown from seeds saved from the previous year, only look less appetizing than their round and red supermarket cousins, often green and striped, or have plenty of bumps and bruises, but are more flavorful.

HT looks.....or have plenty of  b&b,

吃力>_____<b

often green and striped修饰的是Heirloom tomatoes,而不是cousins.

abc的often green and striped 错误的修饰了cousins, 所以abc排除

Heirloom tomatoes, grown from seeds saved from the previous year, only look less appetizing than their round and red supermarket cousins, often green and striped, or have plenty of bumps and bruises, but are more flavorful.

  1. cousins, often green and striped, or have plenty of bumps and bruises, but are
  2. cousins, often green and striped, or with plenty of bumps and bruises, although
  3. cousins, often green and striped, or they have plenty of bumps and bruises, although they are
  4. cousins; they are often green and striped, or with plenty of bumps and bruises, although
  5. cousins; they are often green and striped, or have plenty of bumps and bruises, but they are

我选的A.

就是说HTs是Green and striped,而不像他们的red supermarket cousins,

Heirloom tomatoes, grown from seeds saved from the previous year, often green and striped, only look less appetizing than their round and red supermarket cousins,or have plenty of bumps and bruises, but are more flavorful.

A中,
