a和b好难选，有人说a中reducing的逻辑主语错了，他们把reducing作为伴随状语，认为ancestors无法发出reducing their numbers的行为。
请问reducing不能当作结果状语吗？让ancestors suffered an event这件事情成为reducing的逻辑主语。

哈哈哈哈哈我也选错了。

但是我现在有点想法可以探讨。我觉得是可以如你所说，做结果状语。

但是前面是suffer an event( 这个event是一个普通的没有任何限定的event），因为遭遇了一个没有任何限定的事件，所以人类数量减少。这里我觉得event需要一个限定词，比如：前所未有的会灭绝人类的事件，如果加上了，那么因果关系就特别合理。

B选项，如果把造成人类数量减少作为an event的限定词，也很合理，就是人类遭遇了这样一个会减少人类数量的event。

我是被B选项的that影响了，我觉得他不是believe的宾语，而是单独对believe的从句进行解释，这个that我觉得有点奇怪。也希望大神可以解惑。

这句话是anthologies 发表的观点，然后他们对观点做了一个解释，那么两个内容都在believe的范畴。

主要还是太subtle，不应该根据这个来排除。
