如何高效搞定几十篇MBA申请文书？ - ChaseDream

2021-2022申请季第一轮的截止日期已经不到两个月了，在大多数申请人都有多个目标学校的情况下，一个申请季要写上几十篇文书也是常有的事。

如何高效搞定大量文书，还要保证写得好，写出个性？

其实，解锁了essay写作的共性问题，也就打通了写作的任督二脉，应对各类文书也就更加灵活驾驭，不再需要每篇都是零起点构思。

本节林老师小课堂就带你解锁Essay问题，干货满满。

当我们细致阅读各校文书不难发现，学校的文书主要可以划分为几大类，当我们对各类文书有了解构的基础，也就能以不变应万变。

Duke：What are your post-MBA career goals? Share with us your first choicecareer plan and your alternate plan. (500 characters only, the equivalent ofabout 100 words)

Darden：What is your short-term, post-MBA goal and how does it align withthe long-term vision you have for your career? (150 words)

Stern：What are your short-term career goals? (150 word maximum)

Ross：What is your short-term career goal and why? (200 words)

CBS：Essay 1: Through your resume and recommendations, we have a clearsense of your professional path to date. What are your career goals over thenext three to five years and what, in your imagination, would be your long-termdream job? (500 words)

Goal Essay往往包括Career Goal 和 Why School两种问法，这类问题从Past，Present和Future三个方面去陈述总是很好用的。

对于职业目标的规划一定要细致，越细致越好。比如Cornell Goal Essay题目是你未来想到哪个行业，哪个公司任职，想做什么职位，你的经历是如何为你追求这些目标做好准备的。

如果有转行计划，如果跨度不大，可以说现在的行业和目标行业有什么交集；如果跨度较大，一定要非常详细地了解自己的目标行业，体现出自己具备的特质如何适合目标行业，比如跨行业合作的经验，或是跨部门沟通的经验等等。

准备工作的详细程度要达到就如同现在就在找工作一样。

Kellogg：Provide a recent example where you have demonstrated leadership andcreated value. What challenges did you face and what did you learn? (450 words)

Darden：Leadership and Impact: Select the prompt to which you will respond.(200 words)

Q1: Tell us about a time when you acted with a team to solve aproblem or seize an opportunity. What role did you play? What did you learnfrom this experience?

Q2: Tell us about a time you acted to solve a problem for thegreater good. What drew you to this issue? What did you learn from this experience?

Tuck：Tuck students are encouraging, collaborative and empathetic, evenwhen it is not convenient or easy. Describe a meaningful experience in whichyou exemplified one or more of theseattributes. (300 words)

我们对STAR原则应该并不陌生了，对此类Essay最好用。

S- Situation。交待事情的背景信息，如发生的状况，当时工作中面临的问题。

A- Action采取的行动，具体采取了什么与众不同的做法，可以突出你做决定背后的艰难，也可以说明你做这个选择的原因。

R- Result结果和反思。体现成就请使用数字！使用数字！使用数字！而不要使用副词/形容词。Learning最重要！经过这件事，你学到了什么，有哪些收获、反思和成长。这部分内容切忌突兀，要在前文有所铺垫。

HBS：As we review your application, what more would you like us to knowas we consider your candidacy for the Harvard Business School MBA program?

Stanford：What matters most to you, and why? （up to 650 words）

Kellogg：Values are what guide you in your life and work. What values areimportant to you and how have they influenced you? (450 words)

Booth：An MBA is as much about personal growth as it is about professionaldevelopment. In addition to sharing your experience and goals in terms ofcareer, we'd like to learn more aboutyou outside of the office. Use this opportunity to tell us something about who you are… (Minimum 250 words, nomaximum.)

Haas：What makes you feel alive when you are doing it, and why? (300 wordsmaximum)

其核心的理念都是写对你比较重要的东西。需要陈清：为什么如此在意-我为他付出了什么-以后如何去做。

时刻记住这是一篇申请文书，而不是仅仅强调“我是一个有故事的人”。最好的状态就是将自身的故事和学校在意的东西联系起来，将所讲述的东西和自己的职业生涯联系起来。

- Clear 这件事情听见来简单，实则并不容易，让主线清晰需要申请入充分的打磨。

- Consistent 几个小故事之间写作的手法要类似，整体要对仗、整齐

- Credible 所讲的东西要能说服别人，要提供实质的证据

- Compelling 要动情，valueessay是极好地触及心灵的媒介，去触动读者的或是痛点、或是泪点，如此才能给人留下印象。

大家不妨从以上几个方面去审视自己的文书草稿，或是已经基本成型的文书，加以调整。在文章成文后，一定要让不同的人去阅读，吸纳建议，不断打磨。

最后，时刻谨记你的申请Package是一个整体，对于自身的素材要有整体的规划，哪些适合放在推荐信中，哪些适合放在简历，哪些适合文书。简历中不能涵盖到的东西就要在文书中展现出来，已经有的内容就不要在文书中重复提起。
