这题确实有点tricky。希望有牛人来解答。不过我倒是排除了something earlier in the year many had feared （B，这种dangling的用法似乎不常见）和 many were fearing earlier in the year （C，这个从句用法有错误）。不知道我理解的这两个是否是hi错误。.....noun, somethingt many feared....，这种语法上有问题吗/或者是不是GMAC prefer？作者: Juno_Dai 时间: 2020-7-23 14:16
B C D非常好排除。 后面接的不是that从句的统统排除，看都不带看的。只要接的不是that从句做同位语说明人们的信心是具体什么什么就不对。因为语义是想说人们的信心是具体经济怎么怎么样的信息，也不是对经济的信心——也就是B C D选项的表达作者: 白小胖 时间: 2020-8-25 20:43
个人认为迅速排除的方法：
(B) in the economy to avoid the recession, what many feared earlier in the year, rather to come
无法理解confidence XXX to avoid XX的说法，后面不够简洁
(C) in the economy's ability to avoid the recession, something earlier in the year many had feared , and instead to come
尽量避免无生命体使用's的表达，在严格书面语中不太严谨，something也应尽量避免
(D) in the economy to avoid the recession many were fearing earlier in the year, and rather to come
同B，加之看不到使用过去进行时的理由。earlier in the year模糊时间点不应该用一般过去时吗？

总结一下：
BD 都是confidence in the economy to avoid recession…… 这种结构在语义和逻辑上都不通，最好是用同位语从句来解释confidence的内容
C economy是没有生命的，economy's的用法不好，且something……这种dangling的修饰语不常见
