答案是D，但是不是说itself只修饰主语吗，还是我的理解有偏差。

可以做宾语啊。I taught myself how to swim. 我自学了游泳。

可是反身代词不是只指代主语吗，就是itself指代mass？

哦哦不好意思，我才理解你的问题。是的，反身代词一般指句子主语。但是这个句子不一定是主句，也可以是从句。在这个whether引导的宾语从句里，主语是a star，itself指代主语时，就是指代a star

我想请问一下，原句和a选项有什么区别？？
还是说原句本身就是不对的？要选一个改正他？
