两个项目都比较读博导向，所以想听听大家的意见。
打算读完研究生回国发展。
Duke MAE
pros：选课自由；在经济学硕士中质量很高
cons：地理位置相对来说比较村，不知道实习好不好找
Chicago MACSS
pros：可以选芝大的econ；有小奖
cons：项目相对来说比较新

Congratulations on two terrific offers - both of these programs have excellent reputations and are associated with highly prestigeous universities. Admission to both is a significant achievement.
You mentioned that you want to go back to China post-graduation, but it would be helpful to know what field/employer you're looking to target when you return home post-degree. A Masters in Applied Computational Social Science is going to be positioned differently than a Masters in Economics. The former will have a heavy-economics focus, but it will also include more multi-disciplinary study. If you are interested in predictive analytics to solve social programs (e.g., politics, criminal justice, economic development) then Chicago's program could be a really neat way to explore those topics and position yourself for these sorts of fields post-masters. Duke's Economics program bills itself as more multidiciplinary than other Masters in Economics programs, but it is definitely going to be more of a pure-play economics program than Chicago's program. It will probably be less flexible, as you correctly surmise above, in course selection, but is also a more established and well-known program since it's been around longer and is a less specific and esoteric field. So in some ways it's hard to compare these two programs because it's not an apples-to-apples comparison. Without knowing the amount of your scholarship, it's hard to know how heavily you should weight that in your decision. Both of these schools are well endowed and U of Chicago is especially well-known for merit aid (this MACSS program's website touts that 100% of it's most recent class received some form of finacial aid, for instance). If Chicago's offer was especially generous, you might show it to Duke and say that you are having a hard time making a decision and see how Duke responds. As long as you are respectful and not presumptious, you won't undermind your standing and you may be able to secure an counter-offer from Duke.
