The pronoun whose clearly refers to homeowners and efficiently connects them with the idea of lost equity. In B, C, and D, substituting in that their or because their for whose is wordy

My Question：

排开其他的错误不谈，这里怎么理解whose的非限定性定语从句的作用，想确认一下一个问题

whose有直接限定修饰前面一个名词homeowners的作用，而in that和because丧失了这种修饰的作用，仅仅只有解释说明前一句话的所用

可以怎么理解么？对于这个wordy，实在不太理解，请大家帮帮忙！

google上搜in that可以连接两个句子，“因为，由于”的意思，为什么说wordy,awkward,and ambiguous(OG11-19同题)
