在OG2018 SC语法千行中有一道题：
In the seventh century B.C., the Roman alphabet was adapted from the Etruscan alphabet, which in turn had been adapted in the previous century from a western Greek alphabet, which itself had been adapted earlier in the same century from the Phoenician alphabet.
(A) which itself had been adapted earlier
(B) adapting itself earlier
(C) itself being adapted earlier
(D) having been earlier adapted itself
(E) earlier itself having been adapted
这一题选A我是没有疑问的。我排除B的主要理由基于RON神阐述的规则，"adapting" 本应修饰的是 "a western Greek alphabet", 但是我划分下句子结构之后，(In the seventh century B.C.,) the Roman alphabet was adapted from the Etruscan alphabet, (which in turn had been adapted in the previous century from a western Greek alphabet,) adapting itself earlier in the same century from the Phoenician alphabet，根据规则，"adapting" 修饰的应是 "the Roman alphabet", 明显不符合逻辑；并且 "adapting itself" 也显得奇怪。
但是Helr男神解释B选项如下，“B选项：本选项的adapting是现在分词，做定语修饰a western Greek alphabet。这一点本身没有问题...” 是否有误？如果想要使该句话成立，是否需要把“COMMA” 删除？
