我选的是D 但我想知道为什么-———— 后面 要加that 从句 ？ 这是起什么作用的？

这个点比较难排除，因为这不是一定的，看看五个选项，我们可以看到最主要的问题是，ving 修饰，from which 和so 和so that 从人口瓶颈开始看，因为前面的能不能看懂都没关系，at some time in the past our ancestors suffered an event, greatly reducing their numbers and thus our genetic variation.
第一个ving 那么先考虑修饰前面句子主语，我们发现主语是我们的祖先减少了他们的数量很明显nonsense
然后so that 我给你举个栗子我很胖所以我要减肥，表示前后目的关系。不可能祖先目的是减少他们的数量。。你看看E是不是一样to do表目的所以其实他们两个答案是一样的！
from which 表从那里。句子是因为什么所以什么强调的是一个result
