The application dates for the MBA Class of 2022 (matriculating fall 2020) are:

Application Periods:	Application Submitted Online by 12 Noon Boston Time:	Notification of the MBA Admissions Board's Decision:
ROUND 1	04 SEP 2019	10 DEC 2019
ROUND 2	06 JAN 2020	31 MAR 2020

Please note that each "round" represents a distinct period in which you may apply, not a succession of steps for your application. You may apply in one round only, one time in an application year.

Class of 2022 applications received after September 4, 2019 will be considered in Round 2. Applications received after January 6, 2020 will not be considered.

There is no word limit for this question. We think you know what guidance we're going to give here. Don't overthink, overcraft and overwrite. Just answer the question in clear language that those of us who don't know your world can understand.

HBS这种出世的题目其实是不需要解析的，它是在你理解了商学院的选人品味、完成了深刻的自我反思、理清楚人生迄今为止重要的经历和未尽的使命之后，某天得以灵光乍现写出来的。尽管deadline很早，这篇却完全不适合拿来练手。和你竞争的是一群同样极其聪明high performing的人，你需要做的是讲清楚what set you apart from others。想一想人生中比较重要的milestones，这些事情如何影响了你，塑造了你，对你有何启发，然后整理成一篇看完能让人明白、记住并被打动的文章。至于写作技巧，我想跟大家分享一个“SUCCESs” 的framework，来自于Chip Heath和Dan Heath关于营销创意的畅销书Made to Stick，实际上对于写其他学校的essay甚至准备整套package都非常有用：

Simple: Find the core. 很多人容易把故事写得太复杂，交代太多琐碎无关的信息，却只达到了paralyze读者的效果。AO工作量大，看essay的时间很短，所以一定要prioritize, 提取精华，只写重中之重。
Unexpected: Make people pay attention. 很多人的故事平淡无奇，看到开头就能让人猜到结局。要吸引读者的注意力，保持读者的好奇心和兴趣度，一定要出其不意，有转折有变化。
Concrete: Make people understand and remember。好的故事不仅应该将人物、时间、地点等context交代清楚，而且要描述形象生动，充满tangible的细节。一个简单的技巧是少用形容词和喊口号式的陈述，比如- “It was intriguing!” -Why?
Credible: Make people believe and agree. 真实的故事才有力量，因为你有确凿证据。但为了让人信服，你还需要外部的endorsement（这也是为什么推荐信很重要），启发读者结合他们自身的经历去体会。
Emotional: Make people Care. 你的读者是人而不是机器，数据、事实和逻辑固然重要，情绪的共鸣才能拉近距离。直达人心的故事大多都和逆境有关：你的生活失去了原先的平衡和宁静，需要你去抵抗压迫，汲取能量，做艰难的选择。
Stories: Make people Act. 故事是改变人们态度和行为的利器。从killer opening到情节起承转合，以读者的阅读感受为中心精心设计，而不只是“把自己感动了”，你才能达到最终说服他人欣赏你、认可你（录取你）的目的。
