A Baltic Sea sediments, which are consistent with the growth of industrial activity there
B Baltic Sea sediments, where the growth of industrial activity is consistent with these findings
C Baltic Sea sediments, findings consistent with its growth of industrial activity
D sediments from the Baltic Sea, findings consistent with the growth of industrial activity in the area
E sediments from the Baltic Sea, consistent with the growth of industrial activity there
a) which 默认指代sediments。 “sediments.... consistent with growth" 不是很好。
b) where 在这里莫名其妙。
c) “its growth" 里its是谁?
d)像楼上说的, Scientists have observed (xxxxx), findings ..... 这里 xxxx和finding是同位语。
e) ".... Baltic Sea, consistent ...." 。 这里consistent 默认是跟前面最近的名词, 就是Baltic Sea。 但是这里并不是波罗的海和什么东西consistent, 而是那个finding和后面的东西consistent。 作者: Rieu 时间: 2019-1-13 04:29
Agree with Sarakael. "Findings" is to describe what the scientists have observed, and it is more accurate than "which", and definitely better than "which" in this particular sentence, as there are multiple nouns "concentrations", "heavy metal deposits", "BS sediments" in the previous clause/sentence. From a reader-friendly perspective, it is better to avoid the ambiguity by using "which".
