第一道题 from where用法正确，第二道题from where 用法错误。

在网上没有找到合理的解释，希望有大神可以解释一下，互相交流，谢谢。

第一个看做（thousands miles from）一个地点，这个地点是where。。。，第二个是因为from which 是prep+which的用法，还原就是new growth proceeds from （which）the buds ，如果写作from where 那么就不符合prep+ which用发了。

谢谢回复！第一道题理解了， where代表一个地点；第二道题是不是可以这样理解： the buds （from which new growth proceeds), from which...部分是修饰the buds, 所以 from which 可以相等于where , 但是 from where 不make sense
