The recording industry is fighting a losing battle: it simply does not have
the resources to prosecute all of the individuals who illegally download
music from the Internet. Because the number of individuals who will be
charged with a crime is so limited, the actions of the recording industry
will have a minimal impact on the number of people who illegally download
music. The answer to which of the following questions would best help
evaluate the accuracy of the conclusion above?

• Will recording industry lawyers dedicate the majority of their time to
prosecuting those who illegally download music?
• Is a small minority of individuals responsible for the majority of illegal
song downloads?
• Do many individuals who illegally download songs share their music
files with other Internet users?
• Will new Internet security technology permit the recording industry
to more quickly and easily identify individuals
who illegally download music?

• Will the threat of prosecution alter the behavior of those who illegally
download music?

答案是E，我选的是B。
我想了想，觉得B不正确的原因应该是：即便是minority，也可以是一个唱片公司can't afford to prosecute的数字（原文：Because the number of individuals who will be charged with a crime is so limited），所以B的错因还是在“number”和“proportion”的问题上。
虽然这勉强算得上一个解释，但感觉还不是很充分，官方的解释就更不必提了，只是：
If a small minority of individuals were responsible for the majority of illegal
song downloads, the actions of the recording industry could have a significant
impact on the number of downloaded songs. The conclusion of the argument,
however, was about the number of people who download songs illegally; this
number would remain unaffected.
在我看来不怎么站得住脚，因为song受了影响，people不受一点影响是完全不可能的，

牛牛们如果有其他的解释，还请不吝赐教。

官方对于b的解释一点毛病没有。这里的关键是the number of people who illegally download
B说一少部分人占据了主要的非法下载，即便可以把这部分人抓了，还是不会影响the number

比如说十万人非法下载，要降低数字
结果有200人下载量占有整个非法下载量的80%

抓住Random200人，还有98000人下载
抓住上面200人，还是有98000下载
B只是对整个非法下载破坏性可以大幅降低，但对于Augument说的the number of ppl who illegal download 没有影响

翻译成汉语就好理解了。

原文：唱片行业没有足够的能力起诉非法从网上下载音乐的人。因为只有有限的少部分非法下载的人被抓住定为犯罪，所以唱片行业对非法下载的人打击力度很小 (minimal impact)。

E：是否面临被起诉的威胁会改变非法下载人的行为？如果是，那么唱片行业还是有打击力度的，逮住并起诉一小部分做坏事的人会震慑剩下大部分人，让他们不非法下载，唱片行业成功了。如果不是，那么产片公司是无能为力的，也就是结论说的，就算起诉，唱片行业打击违法的能力有限。
B：是否有一小部分人非法下载音乐？如果是或者如果不是都与原文无关。都说明不了唱片公司是否能打击违法下载。

嗯嗯，理解了，感谢回答。
因为B中的意思是小部分人下了大部分的歌，我当时的理解是小部分人（像分销商一样）把盗版歌曲传播给大部分人。

这道题目是evaluation题目，要找到argument的assumption来evaluate：
逻辑链：因为打击盗版活动只能“charge”一小部分人——所以打击盗版活动没有用。
Assumption：打击盗版活动依赖的是“charge”
所以选择E

做evaluate的题目，要抓住原文的逻辑链来evaluate

我觉得你的解释好棒啊! 我怎么就没想到' charge' 其实是这句话的重心呢？

我觉得你可能没有focus在逻辑链上，而只是focus在“果”（打击盗版）上。

Evaluate的实质是“evaluate逻辑链”，即“因”和“果”的关系。

evaluate题目的选项和别的题型有别：别的题型很容易排除掉三个无关选项，而evaluate题型的选项，乍一看，貌似每个选项都影响“果”。所以如果不盯住题目的“因”和“果”的关系，很容易就做错题的。

谢谢回复!我其实有着重注意 Because the number of individuals who will be
charged with a crime is so limited 这句话，但是我的重心放在了so limited上，脑子里没有预判，看到b 有个minority，好像和limited有关系就选了。。

我也在练习700-800这套题。我发现做逻辑题的时候，一定要抓住题目中的结论和前提，也就是上面说的“果”和“因”，然后做题的时候不要偏离结论就比较好作出答案了。

比如这题的结论是：打击盗版的活动似乎要输了。

如果要evaluate这个结论，就是问：是否真的输了。

然后联系题目中的前提，答案E很快就出来了。
