标题: 10/7一道语法题
Following the fire, 后面划线。主要意思是当地居民的房屋需要修缮，所以他们会有一段时间homeless。
想请问下following the fire后面能跟的主语是什么呢？
选项有：
residents
demolished buildings
the need to 修缮房屋

顺便补充两道语法题。
一个是讲行星大小的，考到 which ，还有around jupiter
一个是考平行，也是行星，from 一堆东西，然后from the surface of Mars， and of Earth 什么的。
要考虑加不加and，加了and之后后面加什么介词和谁平行。
不是那种一眼能看清的，真的超级耗时。。。
大家平时多练练火眼金睛的速度。。。

感觉是应该房屋做主语，意为the house follows by the fire - in other words, something happens after an event.

因为既然following the fire 的follow 为动词，那么resident followed the fire 不合理因为人不会跟随火，同理the need followed the fire 需求跟随火焰也不太合理 - 因为need应该是followed the destruction of the house etc..

不知道是否还有其他split 感觉确实有点tricky

Following 在这里不是动词哈，是作为modifier。楼主有原题吗，别的选项是啥

following 这里做介词，不是意为“追随” 而是“在。。。之后”的意思，应该有别的考点

following the fire，是modifier, “大火之后”的意思，好像后面主语不管是什么都没毛病唉...
感觉应该是其他的split

有道理！哎这道题我搞了好久，后面应该还有一个until的考点和被动的考点，我选的答案是residents will be homeless，（这里有个逗号，我觉得在until前面加逗号也很奇怪） until 房屋修好。
然后还有一个选项大致是 residents will be homeless by the need of 修缮房屋中间会有很长的修饰时间的词，总之考试的SC真的是很难很难。。。

下面有同学说，这个ving跟后面的主语无关。。。只是一个状语的存在。。好像中了gmac老头的陷阱。。

個人覺得這個例子和狗主的例子有些許不同...因為這個例子當中的following modifies "the centuries"
而following the fire，若前面沒有名次的話，那就是modifies 後面的句子

感覺這題確實挺tricky的，可能要靠其他split了。。。

是啊我又想了想，应该还是需要一个主语可以用follow这个动词。因为the centuries 确实可以follow death。
我回忆了一下好像不是修缮大楼，而是被摧毁的大楼，demolished buildings。这个能做主语么。。。
