这题确实很难抉择，几个选项似乎都有问题。


应该是在A、E之间选择，我个人倾向于E（but在此是连词，冒号后是某个句子的省略，比如冒号后加they have等等）。（注意，by是划线的）

E中的but和nervertheless会不会有重复之嫌？虽然一个是连词，一个是副词，但表达的意思是一样的，似乎连用不好。


D中的being produced的表达不是ETS喜欢的，而且似乎少了by。


相比之下我觉得B可能好一点。

同意楼上的观点


因为缺少by,所以B, C,D 肯定都是不对的


楼主的题目似乎有一点问题~~~~~原体里面确实BY有下划线的~~



因为A主谓不一致,所以只好选E了


但是,E里面 but nevertheless真的很怪~~偶是在想不出来but后面省略了什么东东~~

E is correct, but nevertheless combined together means however (adj.)


For D, even with by--"being produced by" is not idomatic

支持选E,只是有个疑问，我觉得原文应该是想表达...proudcted by dolphin with spindcter muscles,所以produced with也应该没什么错

but 和nevertheless可以连用：longman的例子：


The Sharks played with two men in the penalty box, but nevertheless managed to score.
但是后面跟doing是很奇怪的

nevertheless 的用法不容置疑，，很多正式刊物都有的，可是

produced with似乎真的没有见过哦 这题真是折腾啊

每個選項似乎都有問題

A:句中的are絕對跟a complicated system衝突

B:冒號:後方大多出現名詞或名詞片語作補充用,若形成子句應該用分號;吧,更謹慎的說they前方指稱難道不會是sounds

c:but they do create sounds 的語氣是較強烈,但being produced是乎多餘且by消失無法與後方名詞連接

D:being produced是乎多餘且by消失無法與後方名詞連接

E:如果but可與nevertheless聯用似乎較為正確

如果c的尾端是打字錯誤

那麼produce... with N,表示的是利用N來產生...

而不是大家常用的produced by中被誰製造的意義 

所以以目前的狀態是無較佳答案

如果C选项如某位同学所言改正后，那么正确答案就应该是C啦！

A－are 错

B－they有歧义，不知修饰dolphins还是sounds

D－少了by

　　　E-but nevertheless虽然不是错误用法，但原句都没有这样表达，而且将主动变成了被动，不好

c 的错误是dophin只能use system,不能produce,而其A,D,E的错误是不能用system 去做sound的同位语,相比之下好象B除了they歧义,能够接受

应该尽量保持原句的重心

D和C把create变成与前面lack平行的词，改变了句重心

而且冒号后面只会跟并列结构或完整句子

E选项中冒号后面的句子没有谓语

原句重心是不能轻易改变，但如果可以更合逻辑还是能改变的，我还是倾向C，producing是伴随creat的，B里的they有指代不清的嫌疑

        还是感觉nevertheless是让步(尽管creating sounds)的意味
        那么全句的重点就变成了Dolphins lack vocal cords但是句子其实想说的是Dolphins能发声
        

C.          but they do create sounds, producing a complicated system of whistles, squeaks, moans, trills, and clicks with重点是but后的内容
            Dolphins lack vocal cords 但是他们却能发声
        然后用producing这个伴随状语来解释阐述
        

D.          but they do create sounds, a complicated system of whistles, squeaks, moans, trills, and clicks being produced少了with或者by

E.          but nevertheless creating sounds: a complicated system of whistles, squeaks, moans, trills, and clicks produced by逗号+but后面最好接句子
        当然but也有做副词的情况
        但不是这里

困惑是produce by和produce with是否有什么区别呢?Longman上没有查到

并不是PRODUCE WITH短语啊

WITH 后面是补语。
相当于独立主格之类的

支持B, 冒号对整个句子解释，they 优先指代Dophins. 主动优于被动，produced by不够直接。
