... With in choice A … confusingly suggest that United States citizens somehow possess, rather than constitute, 5 percent of the world's population.

大全中有一个相似的例子:

937、With a total population of less than two hundred and fewer breeding females than ever before, the American crocodile seemed a decade ago to be in danger of disappearing.

with的用法看不出来有什么不同, ETS什么意识呢?

这两个句子中的with有这么一个区别：

OG158的with，正如OG的解释citizens somehow possess, rather than constitute，就是citizen就是由5%的world's population组成；

大全937，the population of females与American crocodile不是完全等同的，而只是其中的一部分，还有mail crocodile。

不肯定是不是这个原因造成一对一错

我觉得好像斑竹说的对，第二道题对可能是因为 female的population只是整个crocodile population的一部分，还有male 的存在。

OG158 -- United States citizens constitute 5 percent of the world's population. 故不用with介词短语

937 --- the American crocodile possesses a total population of less than two hundred and fewer breeding females than ever before 故可用with介词短语

937中possess说得通吗?

United States citizens 组成了 5 percent of the world's population. 是一个子集, 故不用with介词短语

the American crocodile 包括 a total population of less than two hundred ..., 是一个全集. 用with介词短语
