我很好奇，念会计博士需不需要工作经验呢？

同问，确实本校的老师基本上都是有工作经验再去申请的硕博，经济类的一般直接博士的多吧

和LZ经历挺像的，也在亚洲某个不错的经济MA项目，同纯经济背景申请了一些会计博士翻profile的话感觉也有挺多会计博士没有会计相关工作经验的

highly ranked programs might not care that much. But second tier schools care.

A good starting point is to look at current students' profiles, especially the ones with CV (job market candidates). Of course, experience helps. But I don't think no experience would hurt that much.

I think in terms of $$ and job security, accounting phd is probably the best for the time being. I would highly recommend it. If you can do something in the intersection between economics and tax in accounting research, it would be promising...

Personally, I don't know too much about quant marketing. I've heard it's started to gain traction recently. Don't worry about "accounting experience". You have 5 years to gain it as a PhD.

Again speaking of "accounting experience", do not even worry about it, especially in teaching. I would say though if accounting is what you are shooting for, try to identify what subfield you want to work on, eg, auditing, capital market, or tax. Read some papers and get some general ideas first...

I see, thanks for you clarifying doubts about phd accounting...

I hope that "getting popular nowadays" means there are growing demand for quant mkt researchers, rather than too many people enter quant marketing to result in an oversupply of quant marketers...

I am quite concerned with the job market of quant mkt as its likely that I will apply for phd marketing for 2018 fall intake.

我觉得：对于申请不重要，对于录取后的学习和科研还是有用的。但没有也可以通过多读paper补充

Ross我这一届招了3个Acc phd，2个是CPA，另一个也有工作经验。
