答案是B，解释为“which were”中的which指代hearings
我的疑问是：这个hearings离着which好远，中间有好几个名词了，impeachment, President Richard Nixon (当然which不可能指人），为什么可以指代hearings?
楼主当初选C，回顾一下是不是错在：with her participation....., 这样Barbara Jordan必须做主语，而不可以说“it was not until 1974 that Barbara Jordan....”?

答案是E，这里的comma+with修饰的是之前整个clause对吗？

我选的D，当初感觉这是独立主格，meat + (be) + a rarity, n.+ n.形式，请问哪里不对呢？

Q3 另外想确认一下A of B的问题, 根据很多CD帖子总结出来的规律，不知对不对：

A of B，which: which可以指代A或B

A of B that: that 可以指代A或B

A of B, 同位语：同位语可以指代A或B

A of B, Ving, +主语+谓语： Ving 修饰A

A of B, with: with如果修饰preceding noun, 是A吗？这个不是很清楚

1. 因为Which 是复数形式（were), 所以不能指代单数名词，也不能指人，所以可以指代hearings。
C错就是因为which was, 这里which只能指代impeachment, 当然肯定不能指代复数的hearings。
with her participation 和这个人是否是主语无关啊，her不是一定要指代主语的。

2. 是的
如果像你说的，这里也没有meat修饰的对象吧。

3. which只能指代前面最近的语法合理的修饰对象，就像Q1里那样。 that比较宽泛，指代对象视句意而定。
同位语的话要看句意，如果是作为修饰名词只能修饰最近的名词，不能跳跃。
comma ＋ ing 修饰前面句子的subject 和 verb
comma ＋ with 一般也是修饰前面的subject 和verb，就像第二题那样。我不太清楚是不是可以修饰名词，感觉是不可以。
