A. minority graduates are nearly four times more likely than are other graduates in planning to practice

B. minority graduates are nearly four times more likely than other graduates who plan on practicing

C. minority graduates are nearly four times as likely as other graduates to plan on practicing

D. it is nearly four times more likely that minority graduates rather than other graduates will plan to practice

E. it is nearly four times as likely for minority graduates than other graduates to plan to practice

我的提问:

I think this one is not that tough, i prefer to A. My question is whether we can use likely in doing to do... it is kind of awkward. Also, whether omitting are will make the comparison uncompleted? and whether we can say "plan on practiding"? Finally, "four times more likely" and "four times as likely as" are different in meanings, right?

A is the correct choice for the statement about " a survey of graduating medical students " as you suggested.  I may be wrong, but I think  "four times  as likely" and  "four times more likely" mean the same thing. To my ear the first sounds more correct, but I can't explain why. TOUGH  TEST.
