标题: 关于comma+and后跟句子的问题
comma+and后跟句子是不是也不是一定的啊？
因为og17上有一题
At the end of 2001, motion picture industry representatives said that there were about a million copies of Hollywood movies available online and expected piracy to increase with high-speed Internet connections that become more widely available.
A) online and expected piracy to increase with high-speed Internet connections that become more widely available
B) online and expect the increase of piracy with the wider availability of high-speed Internet connections

这个正确的e选项后面跟的就是一个从句。是不是这道题里面的逗号是用来使句子更清晰的呢？求解答～

个人意见，这里的逗号表示 said that 从句到这里结束。 comma and that 表示是said that 引导的第二个从句。
所以回答楼主的问题，是的，这里的逗号来使结构更加的清晰

谢谢回复~想了想这个comma加and好像确实不能作为直接排除一个选项的原因

之前版上Helr老师有讲过，在and身前加的逗号是完全没有问题的。

英语中逗号可以表示一种语气的停顿，而并非要表达什么特殊的含义（除了限定性定语和非限定性定语外，非限定性定语身前的逗号是有意义的）

这里的逗号是为了让句子的结构更加清晰，逗号在这里表示 that 后面的there be 句型到此结束了。这个逗号更好的让读的人明白了后面是另一个that clause 了并且和前面的that clause 是分享一个动词的。

这题涉及两个考点：

1. 在英语中 an increase of 这种形式，一般只用在后面是百分比的情况下

2. as引导一个伴随状语从句，as-clause 是adv. modifier，不能修饰名词。 D 选项中，as-clause 紧靠 piracy，根据修饰语就近的原则，D选项里 as-clause 就变成了一个修饰名词的 adj modifier，所以是不对的。而E选项中 as-clause 修饰 to increase 这个动作，是ADV modifier。

是呢，之前咱俩都回复过这题，你对as clause的解释比我解释得到位呢，我就都给整合到一起了。就差给LZ个传送门，把之前的帖子链接过去了

正好也被同样的问题困惑着～
曼哈顿之前的版本chapter 10还特意讲解了COMMA的用法，说Do not use a comma before and to separate two verbs that have the same subject. Either eliminate the comma or add a subject to the second verb, creating a second main clause. Wrong: Earl walked to school, and later ate his lunch. Right: Earl walked to school and later ate his lunch. Right: Earl walked to school, and he later ate his lunch.
但是后面第6版删掉了估计也是因为发现这样解释有问题
