Human beings have cognitive faculties that are superior to those of other animals, and once humans become aware of these, they cannot be made happy by anything that does not involve gratification of these faculties.

Which one of the following statements, if true, most calls into question the view above?

A. Certain animals- dolphins and chimpanzees, for example- appear to be capable of rational communication.
B. Many people familiar both with intellectual stimulation and with physical pleasures enjoy the latter one.
C. Some who never experienced classical music as a child will usually prefer popular music as an adult.
D. Many people who are serious athletes consider themselves to be happy.
E. Many people who are serious athletes love gourmet foods.

我是这么想的,con:if people not involve gratification of cognitive faculties, they will not happy.
to make it weaken, we should find answer to prove that people can happy without gratification of these faculties.

Human beings have cognitive faculties that are superior to those of other animals, and once humans become aware of these, they cannot be made happy by anything that does not involve gratification of these faculties.
This is to say if something can let the cognitive faculties happy , Humans will be happy , physical pleasures enjoy the latter one. ,  身体的愉悦就是让人体的认知功能器官的到massage , and thus I will go for D .
Answer B is somewhat less direct, or indirect . serious athletes think they r happy but why??  can not infer from B directly .
GMAT requires us don't infer too much , just shallowly ,based on what r given to find answers .

(A) tries to attack the premise that we have cognitive faculties superior to other animals. But it doesn’t say whether our faculties are better. More importantly, we’re not looking for an answer choice that attacks the premise. We’re focused on the connection between the premise and the conclusion.

(C) is out of scope. Do classical music or popular music gratify cognitive faculties? Does one gratify more than the other? We don’t know so (C) does not weaken our argument.

(D) is hoping that we’ll read something extra in to the answer choice. We don’t have any information on what makes serious athletes happy. Is it through gratifying their cognitive faculties? We’re not sure, so this does not weaken our argument.

(E) again misses the argument. The argument tells us what makes us happy, not what we love. It might be safe to say that food does not gratify our cognitive faculties, but (E) doesn’t tell us that gourmet food makes these athletes happy"”just that they love it.

Gratification
