标题: 一道OG17新题
1.Recent interdisciplinary studies advancethe argument that emotions, including thosedeemed personal or private is a socialphenomenon, though one inseparable from bodily response.
(A) private is a social phenomenon, though oneinseparable
(B) private, are social phenomenathat are inseparable
(C) private are a social phenomenon but are not thoseseparable
(D) private——are social phenomena but notseparable
(E) also as private emotions, are socialphenomena not separable
OG说没有转折的意思，所以把but改成that,但是这样不会造成修饰a social phenomenon 的歧义吗，that...从句感觉一般都是就近修饰

lz是想说为什么不选D而选B么？
S-V agreement排除A and C. E中"or also as ..."没这个idiom，也排除。
这个解释好像和本题无关。"that..."-modifier是essential modifier，MGMAT SC讲的很清楚，是提供necessary information.
B中"emotions are social phenomena that are inseparable from bodily response"告诉我们什么样的social phenomena--和肢体反应无法分离的。而D只是告诉我们emotions are social phenomenon，具体是什么样的，we don't know, may be vocal...who knows.
其次，emotions are social phenomena BUT NOT separable from bodily response， 没有转折的意思，没必要用but. - e.g., I am NOT a lawyer BUT a doctor. 我是lawyer和我是doctor必须做一个选择，不能同时成立，可以用转折。
- emotions是社交的现象，但是不和肢体反应分开，社交现象和不和肢体反应分开这两个特征不矛盾，不用转折.
- 句子本意应该是，emotions是社交现象，而且，emotions和肢体反应不分开，所以B选项比D更准确。

第一，OG的解释你也看就等于相信美联储说“我拼命印钞票是为了美国的债权国好”一样。
第二，这题that本来就是修饰social phenomena的。
第三，这题能不能做对跟that修饰谁无关：
1.主谓一致，A死
2.宾从句子无谓语， C缺了一个逗号，D破折号，死
3.or两侧并列，E死
选B
做完了回头看OG的解释你再想想OG是不是在忽悠你

LZ, 名词修饰.
that 是social phenomena名词修饰, including 是emotions名词修饰.
这种已经是很明显的修饰了.

我也是觉得that就近修饰，就是OG解释上是说that后面的修饰emotions, 而且从句意来看，that...修饰social phenomena意思不通。

there is called linking verb , such as be-verb.
if the words before and after linking verb are nouns, it does mean that they are actual the same in this sentence, as the author means. for example, you are my darling.
if the noun modification is modifying the nouns before and after the linking verb, the modification can be undersood modifying the subject as same sa the object.
for example: India is poorest state, which has an annual per capita income of $111.
which is modifying state but also can be understood modifying India.
------- however ,because the modification is ambiguous, it is hardly to be teseted .
In this quesion, even without looking into it , you can also easily get the right answer. It is ture, but I appreciate you drilling into this quesiton. cheer up!
(My keyboard has some problems ,so I only can type English now. )
Furthermore, og explaination is always right ! Anything we think it is unclear or ambiguous, because we have not reached the stage in which we can think as same as og thinks !

把B答案放到原句中，有两个that。你指哪一个？

我不是100% sure这两个that引导的从句的official name，你可以查一下。
1. that emotions are social phenomena是subordinate clause, that是subordinator， 类似的有althoug, before, untill, unless, if, while, so that, etc. 这里的that没有明确“替代”什么noun，而是整个句子是解释what is the argument.
2. that are inseparable from bodily response是relative clause，类似的有which, who, whose, whom, etc. 这些是relative pronoun，替代的是"social phenomena".
理解这些names可能对于理解句子结构有帮助，但是对于解这道题太大没有帮助。D选项不止一个错误，dash和including前面的comma不对应，用了but但是句子没有转折意思，not separable没有inseparable简洁，都是错误点。而B你找不出错误。

请问A选项除了is改为are，后面跟social phenomena之外，one是否也需要改成ones 啊？

再看这道题，我感觉第二个that就是指代emotions啊，并不是phenomena吧。。。。否则，对于c选项也不会要求改成but are了，因为要和are social phenomena平行
有点晕，that能不能跳跃修饰？
