In the United States, while the number of foreign-born residents and their children is higher than ever, the percentage of the population they represent is not; in 1910 this group made up 35 percent of the population when compared to 20 percent in 2000.

Apopulation when compared to 20 percent in 2000
Bpopulation as compared to 2000, when it was 20 percent
Cpopulation, comparing it with 20 percent in 2000
Dpopulation, unlike 2000, with 20 percent
Epopulation, compared with 20 percent in 2000

正确答案选E，但是E 和A 的差别在哪里啊，不应该E的逻辑主语也是the group吗，比较对象不也不对等，求大神解释么么么哒

E后面其实是去修饰population的而A的when compared...这里从句的主语其实是group，所以不正确，综上选择E

这样怎么解释呢？感觉很奇怪啊

1910年这个群体占据了人口的35%，人口compared with 20%??真是奇怪，但是也只有E正确

compared在这里是“ed分词”修饰35%，也就是说35%被跟之后的20%比
when compared这里主语不明确（到底是35%被比还是group被比？）
而且一般when之后都加从句

个人观点
in 1910 this group made up 35 percent of the population when compared to 20 percent in 2000.

这里用when，如果翻译过来，就是只有和2000年的20%对，1910才回事35%。但是实际上意思应该是1910的35%和2000年的20%是无关的，并不是一个建立在一个基础上。when把两者联系了起来

A. when 之后的从句内容，要一直牵扯到本句主句的主语 this group, 因为this group 和20% 没有逻辑对应，所以错误；
E. 35 percent of the population, compared with 20 percent in 2000 迷惑人的地方是， compared with 20 % in 2000 不是修饰最近的polulation,而是跳过POPULATION 修饰35%，因为POPULATION 本身也是修饰35%的。 compared这类修饰短语是可以跳过前面的A词，指代更远的B词，前提是B词也是从属临近A词的。
