标题: 求解！
Although the school would receive financial benefits if it had soft drink vending
machines in the cafeteria, we should not allow them. Allowing soft drink machines
there would not be in our students’ interest. If our students start drinking more
soft drinks, they will be less healthy.
The argument depends on which of the following?
(A) If the soft drink vending machines were placed in the cafeteria, students
would consume more soft drinks as a result.
(B) The amount of soft drinks that most students at the school currently
drink is not detrimental to their health.
(C) Students are apt to be healthier if they do not drink soft drinks at all
than if they just drink small amounts occasionally.
(D) Students will not simply bring soft drinks from home if the soft drink
vending machines are not placed in the cafeteria.
(E) The school’s primary concern should be to promote good health among
its students.

答案是A，我能认同。但我依然觉得E也是对的啊。
只有学校concern了学生的健康，才会禁止啊。
没看到很多讨论这道题的帖子，希望牛牛来给我点拨一下。

as long as promote good health has a higher priority than financial benefits, the argument is fine.

You need not to make the extreme asssumption that it should be the primary concern.

但是选项里说的是primary concern是promote good health,题干里也说学生drink more会be less healthy，再加上第一句说了school should not allow vending machines, even if the school would receive benefits。
学校的重点就是不让学生因为喝了soft drink不健康啊。
那这么说来，错误点就在promote上了？因为不一定要promote，只要不decrease就行。

no.

primary is an extreme word.

The promotion of good health could be second, and the financial could be third.

It needs not to be primary.

这道题问得是assumption，选项中是不能有new information

E 选项出现了题干中没有提及得new info 所以已经属于beyond scope 得范畴了。

注意：只有题型是加强或者是削弱得时候才可以允许有new information, 这又称之为它因加强或者它因削弱
