标题: 请教OF Noun v-ing问题 [打印本页] 作者: KKKJUMPING 时间: 2016-12-20 11:50 标题: 请教OF Noun v-ing问题 In 1988, the council on Economic Priorities began publishing Shopping for a Better World, with the sample thesis of consumers having the power to change companies by the simple expedient of refusing to buy.
A. Same
B. which had the simple thesis of consumers having
C. where the thesis was simple: consumers having
D. with a thesis that is a simple one: consumers have
E. whose thesis was simple: consumers have
看了Ron的解释说 having是modifier所以可以不看,可以得到with simple thesis of consumers,然后说因为consumers不是thesis所以错
这里是Ron额外的解释: remember that of NOUN VERBing is an incorrect construction if the "VERBing" is actually meant to be the object of the preposition.
in this case, the consumers' HAVING the power is the actual thesis, not the consumers themselves, so "of consumers having" is wrong.
Shopping for a Better World的主旨,那么of就不合适了,因为of一般表修饰而不是解释,比如a population of 3 million,an age of 60, a friend of mine, etc. D时态不对,同时略显繁琐,可以直接说with a simple thesis: ...
