正确答案是D，但我不知道E为什么不对，是不是因为“so that +情态动词”是目的状语从句，而这里只是表示结果，所以用so that不对？请NN指教！！

E选项 it 确实有指代问题,但正确选项it好象也应优先指代主语:the design of muscle.

我认为这题的主要问题应该是E中的结果壮语从句的SO THAT前面不应该有逗号。

在结果壮语从句中，通常只见过WITH THE RESULT THAT 引导的从句前有逗号。

我觉得正确答案是E吧 so表示因此是conj 不能和and连用吧

可以翻翻前面的帖子 so that 不加情态动词表示结果加了可以是结果也可以是目的要根据句子意思分析

楼主的题目是哪里的？没有看到的，还有答案D中and so that似乎不可能是ets的prefer.是在看不懂，我还是觉得E可能是答案，虽然E中的,很不对。

我查了字典，so 可以做副词，那么（D）选项的and so是没有问题的。

我比较倾向于认为so that加情态动词表目的，而这里“结果”可能比“目的”更好一点。所以可能还是(D)对。

z520m，D选项不是“and so that”而是“and so”。

E should be the best answer.

D is fragment,because "and s因此" is adv not conj. In addition,"allow that it" is unidiomatic.

多谢楼主指出，不小心看错了。我还是想问一下楼主，这道题的出处在哪里？还有我想说的就是D,E都有可能正确，不过E中的comma确实有问题，问题不在于so that 表示目的或结果，而在于so that 连接句子不能加逗号，我认为错在这个逗号。还有，我查了longman,其中allow sb to do sth 和 allow that 的意思不一样。但不是很明确，请高手指点！
