正确答案是A，对于本道题并没有疑问，但是不懂后半句provided that their performance remains satisfactory的用法，是同位语从句吗？为什么是remains？

这里provided不是过去分词，而是连词，引导条件从句，表示“如果。。。”，带有希望该条件实现的意思。

performance是不可数名词，所以用单数形式。
