2) Success in college applications stems from those activities.
（其中 in college applications 是修饰success的）第二句呢因为修饰success的介词短语较长，所以曼哈顿把success（主语）和stems（谓语）倒装了变成了stems success in college applications
然后把这两个句子变为定语从句用 from which连接起来（其中from是介词于是提至which前）
未倒装：Students at Carver High School are encouraged to pursue only those extracurricular activities from whichsuccess in college applications stems. （于是这是原句下的黑体）
倒装：Students at Carver High School are encouraged to pursue only those extracurricular activities from which stems success in college applications. （原句）
