一点浅见
关于 the more so because……
首先理解整句话，像D和SV事件，H case成为这个时代政治事件，更多是因为第一次国会窃听上电视。
接着看，the Hiss case became the political cause of an era，已经成为一个完整的句子了。后面比他还长那一段有连接词，再成一句；或者就是modifier。
具体分析：the more大家都知道是更多，so在这里，表示前面提到过的idea，做过的动作，发生的事件等等。
比如：I don't think so. Hope so. Say so. 在曼哈顿语法笔记第六版Page196，pronoun extra章节中有一小段介绍过do so。其中so指代前句entire action。我们可以把它看作一个代词。
反过来看一个noun ＋ modifier ＝ 独立主格，做状语补充修饰主句。
当然，翻译网站上查 the more so 的意思是尤其如此。大家记住这个搭配吧。
最后，个人觉得这题不知道the more so这个搭配用法的话，可以用排除法将其他选项一一排除。
