标题: 最新prep exam5 pack里的两道SC题求解！！
第一题：正确答案D
1、为什么是用过去进行时呢？
2、ferried是修饰什么呢？我觉得是修饰box，但是可以这样连着两个过去分词修饰吗？修饰volunteer的话也不应该用过去分词，而是现在分词吧。
3、句子意思不是很明白

第二题：正确答案A
1、为什么要加an？America不是美国的意思么？

第一题：直接用排除法就好了。ABCE中that从句没有main verb。直接选D
句意应该是：一组科学家宣布：五中濒危鸟类 [这些鸟类已经重建好它们的鸟巢或者正在建设他们的鸟巢(这些鸟盒是被志愿者立起来的)] ferry out the island。

第二题：国外网站说：This is a very special usage of indefinite article with a proper noun in order to highlight a particular facet of the proper noun among other facets of it.

The country America has several facets of which the author wishes to highlight the aspect "steeped in romanticism" particularly. It may be convenient to consider the usage of America in this case not as a place, but as a facet ( an aspect / a characteristic) of the country. The indefinite article depicts one particular facet among many facets.
即不定冠词+名词，是为了体现名词的某一个特性特点。

an America原来是要表达这样的意思啊，明白了~~
不过第一题里，that从句里的main verb难道不是had resumed和investigated这两个并列的动词吗？你的意思是这两个动词是作后置定语修饰species的？但是应该没有这样的用法吧，分词的话应该没有had和was在里面吧

是的that从句的main verb是had resumed和were investigating。
用排除法：A.如果是had investigated过去完成时，那么having been就时态错
B:being错。comma+v-ing表main verb（had investigated）同时发生，不对。
C:had investigating错
E:which修饰volunteer错
feeried是应该修饰box.这种好像不太常见，但是Manhattan里面说有的时候因为修饰内容过长，只能放在句末。而且原来Ron的课中好像说过，有的时候用某种用法是因为you can not find a better place to place it.
我的理解是这样的…也不知道对不对…

我觉得也只能这么解释了吧，两个分词同时修饰box，只能说GMAT要选的是最优选项，相比之下还是D最好了

你好，我有个地方不懂：为什么C选项就变成had investigating了呢？如果要表明正在做，前面的were是一定要加的对吗？后面那个, erected by ..可以作为排除的依据吗？
