I strongly support his decision to take a year off. My reasons are as follows:
First of all, students need to expand their horizon and learn about the world in many different ways. My friend can make the best use of this gap year and travel around the world so that he can learn about the cultures in different countries.
Secondly, most of the time, students are under a lot of mental stress. This gap year can be a valuable opportunity for my friend to get rid of mental stress and refresh his or her mood, so that he can be better prepared for the future.
口二:Some first-year university students prefer to get involved in extracurricular activities like sports, clubs,or student organizations.Others prefer to wait one or two semesters before getting involved in extracurricular activities.Which approach do you think is better and why?
I strongly believe that college students should get involved in extra-curricular activities as soon as they enroll.
First of all, students need to acquire all-round skills and achieve all-round development. Academic success is not the only measure of a student’s ability or potential. Extra-curricular activities can help students widen their eyesight.
Secondly, college students need to improve their communication skills and leadership skills. Only by doing that can they be competitive in the workplace of the future. Otherwise they will fall behind.
大作文:
There is a traditional Russian saying that goes roughly like: the ability to do things at the same time means the difference between survival and death. I strongly agree that this saying is true to some extent and I believe students should try to do other things while they are studying.
First of all, in the globalized world we live in, the ability to deal with multiple tasks is a distinct competitive edge. Every individual is under tremendous surviving pressure in the modern society. This is especially true in hard economic times like this, when decent jobs are hard to find and prices of almost everything are on the rise. Sooner or later, everyone will be thrust into the workplace where they have to take care of themselves. If people are not equipped with the ability to do many things at the same time, they will lose their jobs and lose the means to put food on the table and a roof over their head, they cannot survive and thrive in the modern world. That means each individual needs to enhance competitiveness in advance, by learning how to multitask, so that they can gain a foothold in the future. Students need to acquire new skills at a time when they are most receptive to new knowledge. And learning how to do other things while studying is a good option. By doing that and thus laying a solid foundation for the future, they will be better prepared for what lies ahead.
Secondly, the ability to take on different assignment and combine work and entertainment is crucial for students’ mood. It plays an important role in helping people gain work-life balance and maintain an optimistic outlook on life. As a matter of fact, almost every student is stressed out in modern society. And playing application software on smart phones or computers is the only way they can get some relief. The sources of stress are too numerous to count. The fast pace of life has become the norm in modern societies. Commuting to and from work every day takes a lot of time. Not to mention the kind of trouble that working-age students with part-time jobs have to go through. The little spare time that students have is mostly spent on laundry and grocery shopping. If students don’t learn how to distract themselves while they are studying, they will lose their control and break down, because students are also made busy by the need to keep track of their own work performance and enhance their skills. So it is fair and reasonable to say that doing other things while learning knowledge helps students maintain a healthy perspective on life and get some relief from their daily routine.
All in all, taking into account all the arguments above, I am firmly in favor of the view that students should learn how to balance conflicting needs by doing others things at the same time of their studying.
The reading passage states that it is not viable or practical to refine oil from seaweed.
On the other hand, the listening passage supports the opposing view and comes up with its own proofs.
First and foremost, the reading passage makes the argument that a seaweed plant needs too much land space to be practical. Unlike the reading passage, the listening passage holds on to the view that seaweed can be grown almost everywhere.
Secondly, the reading passage says that expensive equipment needed to process seaweed can make it impossible to do so. In contrast, the listening passage asserts that irrigating seaweed can make use of industrial waste water and cut down on waste.
Thirdly, the reading passage purports that growing seaweed requires too much carbon dioxide and cannot take in all the CO2 materials. But the listening passage holds that the seaweeds’ need for CO2 can be met by using existing CO2 in the factory.
The school has a plan to allow students to use their laptop in class. The boy is against this plan. The boy has two main reasons for opposing this plan. Firstly, some students use laptops for study purposes while others use them to play computers. Secondly, not all students have access to computers.if Professors use computers for educational purposes under this plan, many students may not understand him.
This lecture talks about a kind of territorial behavior that does no physical harm to the participants involved. Some animals, after gaining some territory, don’t harm each other in the process. The rattle snake is cited as an example of this behavior. They only engage in activities to fight for territory for food by raising their back parts and crowd out the rival. But they don’t harm the other side. And no individual is getting hurt.
The student faces a problem. The heating system at this person’s place is broken. The first choice is to stay at a restaurant to keep warm. But it is beyond the student’s budget to do so. The second choice is to wear more clothes and stay at the same place. If I were the student, I will go to the restaurant. I can earn some extra money by doing part-time work at the restaurant. So it is a viable option to stay in the restaurant.
The lecture talks about how salesmen deal with customers’ misgivings and sell their products. The first strategy is to point out their products’ unique features. They can say that their computers are much faster. The second is to display the product, like showing sample machines or unplugging the power connection to show that the product is truly portable. That way, customers can get a general visual idea of the product.
