标题: 一道比较题求助
Americanproductivity is declining in relation to Europe’s; the energy expended per unitof production in the United States is as muchas twice that expended in West Germany.
A.as much as twice that expended in West Germany
B.as much as twice that of West Germany’sexpenditure
C.up to two times of West Germany’sexpenditure
D.up to two times what West Germans expended
E.up to double the West German expenditure

Q：一般不是倍数放在前面as much as 前面吗？ 比如twice as much as
所以一上来把AB排除了 囧

答错勿喷…我的第一反应觉得as much as twice读上去怪怪的，但是仔细看其他选项，可以用排除法。
B.that of 和West Germany’sexpenditure 重复；
C.up to two times在GMAT中没有见过这种表达方法，况且是up to（差不多到两倍），原句是as much as（相当于两倍），感觉句 意有微妙改变。而且energy怎么可以和expenditure作对比
D：up to不对，what引导错
E:double of才对吧。
所以虽然A读起来怪怪的，但是其他的错误都很明显，只能选A了。说的不对的地方欢迎指出

我又想了想确实也只有A比较合适。
but E中double可以作动词 直接double+the+n. prep08中语法笔记有解释倍数表达 ~
结合您的答案，贴出自己的解释：希望后续有指正~
比较对象 美国的 energy expenditure 与 西德的 energy expenditure
A correct； 虽然将twice放在后面很奇怪，但是比较对象对等，相对比较好。
B. that of指代不明 that如果指代energy 则变成energy of West Germany’s expenditure 与前面the energy expended in the United States不平行；
Up to 加倍数的表达正确的情况GMAT og/verbal中从未出现过；
C. 不属于times表示倍数的三种表达法
D. what引导错，what 是what 东东？？
E.比较对象不对等，将energy 与 expenditure相比
