想知道e为什么不可以呢？还是不太理解 关于时态的问题 为什么现在完成时就不可以呢？
以及，有看到别的帖子说，e选项改变了句子意思，那为什么a的意思就是对的呢？

时间顺序上 discover<1999<now，所以discover在和1999作比较以及1999是过去的时间，那么时态就用过去完成时
至于句子意思，A和E这两个discover强调的内容不一样，倒不是说谁对谁错，而是如果原文没有问题的情况下，强行更改原文意思这个行为是不对的。

赞同devilmars，by now 的话可以用现在完成时，但是by 1999， 1999本来就是个过去的时间了，所以要用过去完成时

错错错！选A是因为 are 表示客观事实 不能用过去式
