答案远D. 不理解其中一个语法点，最后句尾的performing是什么语法功能?谢谢指教！

，a third of them domesticated and performing various essential tasks. 这是一个独立主格形式，performing是修饰them (elephants)的，表示them主动发出的动作。

那and 前后不用平行吗？Ved和Ving不平行呀

不用的，两个都是做修饰可以平行

domesticated performing 一个是被动发出的动作一个是主动发出动作，可以放在一起的
