Since 1990 the global economy has grown more than it did during the 10,000 years from the beginning of agriculture to 1950.

这个句子很简单，我认为it 指代前面的economy。然而我对于为何使用过去完成时did感到疑惑。during the 10,000 years from the beginning of agriculture to 1950.是一个时间段，且发生在1990之前，为何不使用过去完成时？

不能，除非 "10,000 years from the beginning of agriculture to 1950" 是与另一个过去发生的事情相比（比如说"1960 to 1980"）。这里"since 1990"不是过去，是还在进行。
